Following on from my Dull Photos From My Camera Roll post, here are some of my best/favourite photographs from my camera roll.

Taken in New Orleans, USA in 2017, not 1927, is a photo of a streetcar. I thought the streetcar was cool and then realised I had taken the photo as the streetcar was in front of an old building (US Customs House) which made the whole photo look old, hence why I made it black & white. In reality the streetcar was made in 2007, but the US Customs House is from 1881, so the photo is a recreation of what Canal Street would have looked like in the 1920’s. (Obviously, I didn’t say any of that when I posted it to Instagram. ?)

The next photo is actually the wallpaper on my phone. It shows Volks Akihabara Hobby Paradise in Tokyo, Japan. I love Akihabara, the sounds, lights, the cool electronic shops, the arcades, the food and bars. The first time I went there you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. This was the Japan I’d seen on TV and I was loving it. I was having a geekgasm.
Geekgasm (noun): When a geek is overstimulated, overexcited to the point they just smile and giggle to themselves. A feeling of intense excitement or pleasure over something geeky.

Gyeonghoeru Pavilion at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea. It was so hot the day I visited the Palace, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, an absolutely beautiful day. The Palace and its grounds were huge, this is just a photo of just the banqueting hall, they make Buckingham Palace look like a hovel. (To be fair Charlie does have a lot of other Palaces and estates to lying around to use as well.)

Ngong Ping 360 cable car Lantau Island, Hong Kong. All I was thinking while taking this photo was, where the hell is this thing taking me? Every cable car I’d previously been on had been fairly short 10mins at most. This one just kept going and going, going round corners, going across the South China Sea, going up mountains, it seemed never ending. In reality it was about 30mins and it had travelled 3.5 miles. It was pretty impressive though, and my car had a glass floor so I could see exactly how far I’d fall to my death. For those wondering, it took me to Ngong Ping village, a retail tourist trap built around the world’s largest sitting Buddha.

Another phone wallpaper, this one is the Howe Sound from the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. Stunning, simply stunning. That’s all, that’s all I’ve got for this photo. Oh, there was a restaurant and bar with a terrace over looking the Sound, which was nice.
So there’s some of my best/favourite photographs from my camera roll. Looking back at these photos just make me realise how much I love travelling. I really need to book a holiday.
Take care,
Mike
